White Clay Creek - A Poem by Jean Henri Sadot

White Clay Creek – A Poem by Jean-Henri Sadot. Musical Adaptation by Vic
Sadot. Extract from a longer video of 8 Jean-Henri Sadot poems
presented as poems or songs on the July 28, 2003 Dream Streets Radio
Show hosted by Steven Leech. https://youtu.be/qu7k-PhGlDw

This White Clay Creek music video is a 7 minute segment extracted from a 26 minute
37 second
video that was created from a 2003 Dream Streets Radio Show audio track in
2018 by Vic Sadot
. Steven Leech is the host.

White Clay Creek was written by Jean-Henri Sadot in 1967 when the natural watershed valley was threatened by plans to dam and flood it. Opposition came from all sectors of society and was effectively organized over many years of natural environmental preservation campaigns. Like his father, Vic was active with the Coalition for Natural Stream Valleys and the UAW Conservation Committee.

It was Professor Joaquim Tourbier of the University Water Resources Center. who suggested the poem should be adapted to music. When Vic said he’d look into it and did not think it could be done, Joaquim said, “So do it!” And so it was done. Vic Sadot adapted the
to song in 1980 to perform it at a benefit in the Newark (DE) Fire Hall for the Coalition for Natural Stream Valleys
annual banquet.

Vic sang this song and other “Songs of the Seasons” in 2006 for the 30th annual dinner banquet of the Coalition for Natural Steam Valleys at Delcastle Inn in Wilmington, DE. The area is now a state park and is on the “Wild & Scenic Rivers” list. The State Park provides nature and music programs for all ages to enjoy. A hike along White Clay Creek will put you back in touch with nature's incredible wonders in this "charming cherished place".

This particular Dream Streets Radio Show
was aired on July 28, 2003 in Newark, DE on WVUD, the Voice of the University of Delaware. The poem video has Iron Hill, Early
Roses of 1940,
White Clay Creek, The Statue of Liberty; Summertime Sunset; Blizzard;
Little Girl’s Bedtime; and The Moods of the Sea. Vic Sadot,
son of the poet, is reading
Jean-Henri Sadot poems,
or sharing renderings of them into song as he relates the history behind the poems of Jean-Henri Sadot. Steven Leech is the long-time Host of Dream Streets Radio Show on WVUD 91.3 FM in Newark, DE, the “Voice of the University of Delaware”. “Even Steven” was one of the founders of a poetry publication that gave
a platform for hundreds of writers to be heard and
the Dream Streets editorial teams managed to produce regular releases of Dream Streets for decades. See
