Courage To Resist - A Tribute to Bradley Manning, wikileaks, & GI Resisters

Courage To Resist - A tribute to GI Resistance in 2011 by Vic Sadot in support of Private Bradley Manning and wikileaks for exposing the lies, war crimes, and cover-ups by the corporate empire. Bradley Manning, Nicole Mitchell, Marc Hall, and others give us hope for truth and justice. If they can stand up when already bound up by the military control over their lives, then we can too!

Check out their real life stories of resistance at www(dot)couragetoresist(com)

The first version of the song which was made for video was a Valentine to Bradley Manning created by Code Pink activist Holly Harwood and posted to YouTube. The second version was a live recording by Vic Sadot. And the third version is this one using the studio recording featuring Eric Golub on viola and Vic on vocals and acoustic guitar with visuals selected by Vic to match the lyrics.

Oh What A Day! New Video by Vic Sadot at YouTube

On Oct 12, 2011 Vic Sadot posted a new music video of "Oh What A Day!", which is the 14th song on the new 16 song collection released on Sept 11, 2011 as "9/11 Truth & Justice Songs - 10th Anniversary Edition". A new web site was launched on the same day with the crucial help of Michael Tank at www.vicsadot.com

The writing of "Oh What A Day!" was begun by Vic Sadot in November 2008 on the day after the election of the first Black President of the United States, Barack Obama, formerly Barry Sotero. It was completed not long after the Inauguration to celebrate the departure of the lawless, lying, war-mongering Bush-Cheney regime. The 2008 Democratic Party election victory seemed to indicate that the American electorate were hoping for a "CHANGE" along the lines of Roosevelt's "New Deal" program. Now that the Obama "honeymoon" period is long over, many in the electorate are feeling that the "CHANGE" promised was betrayed. We are getting the policies of the old war profiteering and torture regime with a new wave of austerity policies and further dismantling of the "New Deal". We need leaders who serve "JUSTICE", not the money masters, manipulators, and oppressors who bomb weaker resource rich countries in our name under all manner of ridiculous rationales and unproven pretexts. The song was recorded at Robot Envy Studio in Berkeley, CA with Sammy Fielding as sound engineer. Vic Sadot is on vocals and acoustic guitar. Eric Golub is featured on violin.

The video covers the issues that Obama has made his own, expanded wars and the use of drone warfare, for example. Scenes of opposition in the form of the new "Occupy Wall Street" movement feature in this video as well as many photos from SF Bay Area actions.

NATO, US AFRICOM, "ICC" Kangaroo Court, Plot Regime Change by Bombing Libya & Inserting Neo-Colonial Armies onto the African Continent

Broadside Ballader Blogspot - July 1 2011 Post

Broadside Balladeer Facebook Post - "New World Order": NATO, US AFRICOM, "ICC" Kangaroo Court, Plot Regime Change by Bombing Libya & Inserting Neo-Colonial Armies onto the African Continent! "African Union" gets Exclusion & Humilation in Spite of Rare Show of Unity, much as in Ivory Coast UN Intervention! Long Live African Independence!"

Luis Moreno-Ocampo, the chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), brazenly and openly revealed the Neo-Colonial purpose behind "charges" against Revolutionary Libya’s Gaddafi. This is indeed a "criminal court". Solidarity with the Libyan Revolution that kicked out foreign military bases and used the oil revenues for the people's education, housing, health care, and infrastructure!

Highlights of James Cogen report on ICC:

http://www.wsws.org/articles/2011/jun2011/liby-j30.shtml

"The ICC stands exposed as an instrument of war and great power neo-colonialism. The US government, along with a host of the regimes it sponsors, such as Israel, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Yemen and Iraq, are guilty of the very crimes that the court alleges Gaddafi has committed―the killing of civilians to suppress political opposition. Ocampo, as WikiLeaks revealed, blocked any investigations by the ICC into the numerous war crimes committed by the United States in Iraq."

"The NATO member-states are growing increasingly frustrated by the lack of any prospect that the disorganised and undisciplined forces of the Transitional National Council will gain a decisive ground victory. Thus NATO is ever more openly pursuing the criminal policy of assassination, seeking to kill Gaddafi in the hope his successors will capitulate and surrender.

"On April 30, NATO aircraft killed Gaddafi’s youngest son and three of his grandchildren in a murderous attack on one of his family’s private residences. On June 20, at least 19 civilians, including nine children, were slaughtered by missile onslaught on a residential compound owned by a close associate of Gaddafi. The attack was almost certainly motivated by NATO’s belief that the Libyan leader was taking refuge in the building."

A Video Valentine for Bradley Manning by Code Pink Golden Gate Feb 14 2011

"Courage To Resist" by Vic Sadot is the name of the soundtrack for this Code Pink "Valentine Video to Bradley Manning". The song was written for a demonstration on Jan 12, 2011 at Old Berkeley City Hall to support Bradley Manning, wikileaks, and to close Guantanamo prison and release all the prisoners who have already been cleared. "Courage To Resist" is the name of the organization in support of US military people who have turned against war or who have become whistle-blowers about war crimes. Holly Harwood, Coordinator of Code Pink Golden Gate, came up with the idea of a video Valentine for Bradley Manning. She requested Vic Sadot's new studio recording of "Courage To Resist" with the wonderful viola of Eric Golub accompanying. It was recorded at Robot Envy Studio in Berkeley by owner/sound engineer Sammy Fielding on Feb 10, 2011. Many activists in the San Francisco Bay Area signed the Valentine posters for Bradley at recent events like the Code Pink march on Golden Gate bridge on Feb 14 and the Social Justice Committee of the Berkeley Fellowship of Unitarian Universalist's "Country Joe Open Mic" on Feb 11. Their heartfelt statements in support of Bradley Manning are nicely intermixed with recent photos of people in the Bay Area taking their message to the streets. Blowing the whistle on war crimes is a duty, not a crime! Free Bradley Manning now! Prosecute the war criminals! Get involved! Contact "Courage To Resist"!
